The process outlined below is for parents who are baptizing a child under the age of seven for the first time. If you have already celebrated the baptism for one of your children, you do not need to repeat the process for subsequent children. Simply follow Step 1 below.
Christ the King's baptismal preparation will help you reflect on what your Catholic faith means to you and why you are choosing to pass it along to your child.
It will introduce you to other parents who are making similar decisions on behalf of their children.
It will familiarize you with the words and signs used in the rite of baptism, so that you can participate in your child's baptism in a meaningful and memorable way.
Step 1 - Make Contact
Your first step is to reach out to Kathy Skinner, Christ the King's parish coordinator, to share your information and, if possible, schedule your child's baptism.
EMAIL KATHY SKINNER (kathy.skinner@
ctk-nashville.org)Call Kathy Skinner (615-292-2884)
NOTE: Godparents who are not members of our parish must have a verification form completed and submitted to our parish office no later than one month prior to the scheduled baptism.

Step 2 - Individual Meeting
After you have talked with Kathy Skinner, she will help you schedule a meeting with Jon Stotts, CTK's director of faith formation. In this meeting, both parents will have the opportunity to reflect on your own faith journeys, discuss what your decision to baptize your child means for you and your family, and ask any questions you might have. Before this meeting, try to read this short chapter from Michael Himes' book The Mystery of Faith.
Step 3 - Group Meeting
After you have met with Jon Stotts, you can attend a group session with other parents who are preparing to baptize their children. This session will focus on preparing to celebrate the rite of baptism itself, and it will also be a great way to connect with some other new parents. These sessions take place from 4:30-5:30 pm every third Sunday of the month at the parish. You may sign up for the group class after your Individual Meeting.
Step 4 - The Celebration of Baptism
After you have attended the group baptismal class, you are ready to renew your own baptismal vows and celebrate the baptism of your child. Congratulations!
