All women of the parish are invited to join us for our April meeting at 6:30 pm in the West Wing of the parish hall. Kassiana Hirch Bateman was born in 1940 Berlin and hidden with 3 different families while her mother went into permanent hiding to escape shipment to a concentration camp. Antisemitism still reigned in post-war Germany and Kassi suffered abuse from classmates and teachers. She finally established a new life by emigrating to Israel and becoming a citizen. Kassi devoted hours volunteering to assist those considering suiside or facing other dire crises. She is a widow and the mother of a son. Her granddaughter is named Maya.
