Bob True was ordained a permanent deacon in the Roman Catholic Church by Bishop Kmiec, on May 14, 1999. He originally became a member of Christ The King over twenty five years ago after completing a three year course and being commissioned a Lay Pastoral Minister. He was asked by the then new pastor, Father Mallett, to help launch the RCIA process for the parish.
Prior to coming to Christ The King he was a member of St. Henry's Parish where he taught Adult Education, served on fund raising projects and served on the Parish Council. He is a founding member of the Lay Retirement Board for the Diocese, has been active in the Cursillo movement, and has served on the committee responsible for implementing parish councils after Vatican II, the Diocesan RCIA committee, and the Diocesan Stewardship and Development Committee.
Bob and his wife, Shirley, worked as a team couple in the Search program for teenagers for many years and were one of the original team couples on the Weekends for Engaged Couples.
Bob has now retired from full-time ministry at CTK but remains involved in parish life. He has been married for more than fifty years to Shirley Landrum True, who has been supportive and participative in all his ministry. They have five children, two of whom are members of CTK, and fourteen grandchildren.
