The Senior Ministry began in the spring of 2016 with the idea that there was a need for activities involving our 65+ parishioners. That summer, a questionnaire was fashioned to glean some insight as to what type of activities would be beneficial. “Beneficial” could be interpreted as educational, physical and social. Of 300 + surveys that were sent out, over 100 were completed and returned for review.
The overwhelming response indicated the wish for more social gatherings. Since that time, the Senior Ministry has scheduled four events each year. In the spring, summer and fall we host either a lunch or dinner and play bingo, This isn’t really your grandma’s bingo, it’s rather rowdy, full of fun and laughs. For our Christmas party in early December, we try to make this event special by serving a three - course lunch and entertain our seniors with local musicians playing Christmas favorites.
Attendance has grown as more people in our platinum age bracket learn of the festivities from friends and from CTK announcements. Between good food, good friends and great mimosas, our seniors share that they have enjoyed all of the events thus far.
